Respond to at least two of your colleagues’ posts by offering suggestions/strategies for working with this database from your own experience, or offering ideas for use of alternative resources. This is the student’s post below that we need to answer to.
Prevention can save a life this is important to me. One preventable condition is Colorectal Cancer with a simple stool specimen or colonoscopy. Early detection allows for proper diagnostic testing and treatments to prevent serious complications alternative choices in the future (Gupta, 2022). Multiple types of diagnostic testing from a fecal immunochemical test (FIT), or a computed tomographic colonography(CTC) to name a few; these simple test can identify colon cancer (Gupta, 2022, p. 401). Each screening test has unique merits and benefits for prevention. For example, FIT uses an antibody to detect the presence of occult blood (Gupta, 2022, p. 401). This type of non-invasive test is considered first compared to others as it merely requires a stool sample to be submitted. Related invasive testing such as a Colonoscopy with the use of an endoscope evaluates the entire colon, as a scope is passed through the rectum. Prior to this test, a detailed bowel prep regimen is required for a satisfactory Assessment of the complete colon and rectal area (Gupta, 2022). This type of non-invasive test is prioritized over others because it only requires a stool sample to be submitted. Invasive testing like a colonoscopy with an endoscope evaluates the entire colon as the scope is passed through the rectum. A detailed bowel prep regimen is required prior to this test for a satisfactory Assessment of the entire colon and rectal area (Gupta, 2022). Both screening methods aid in the prevention or early detection of colon cancer. Both methods of screening benefit in the prevention or early detection of colon cancer. The earlier stages can be treated quickly and effectively with various methods. Walden Library’s database was easy to access and provided vast information on this topic. Using Science Direct a peer-reviewed article website provided additional articles on this subject. This database is not difficult to navigate. It provides a straightforward method on how to search for an article. However, some articles are blocked behind paywalls. Many valuable articles can be chosen from this site with valuable information. I would recommend using the Walden Library, not only can the student access be used on various research databases, but it also provides a variety of resources to complete a paper. For example, the writing center, guidelines on proper APA format, and other sources to make a good paper (Walden University Library, n.d). The writing center is an excellent source to use due to the staff availability to Help in reviewing or proofreading a paper to ensure proper APA is projected into the paper. Serving as a resource teaches and guides the student in the right direction to excel in writing their paper (Walden University Writing Center n.d.). Overall starting at Walden Library is a good starting point for finding the sources you need for your paper.
