Reflection on Module 05 Content
In Module 01 Written Assignment – Reflection, I gave myself a rating of 3 for being an average eater. After completing Module 05, I would give myself a rating of 4 as I have made significant adjustments to my diet, which have positively impacted my overall health.
My rating has changed in a positive direction as I have incorporated more whole foods into my diet while reducing processed foods and added sugars. I have also increased my daily water intake and decreased my alcohol consumption. I have been more conscious of portion sizes and have started meal prepping to ensure that I have healthy options available throughout the day.
My eating patterns are not based on family traditions, cultural, or religious reasons. However, I have become more aware of the impact of food culture and how it can influence one’s dietary choices. I have learned to make healthier choices when dining out by choosing menu items that align with my nutritional goals.
Two important nutritional principles or concepts that I have learned and will always remember are the importance of balance and moderation. These concepts have a significant impact on my delivery of quality safe nursing care as they emphasize the need for individualized care that considers each patient’s unique nutritional needs and preferences. It has also highlighted the need to educate patients on the importance of a balanced and moderate diet to prevent and manage chronic diseases.
In conclusion, completing Module 05 has improved my understanding of nutrition and its impact on overall health. The principles and concepts learned will serve as a guide in my personal and professional life to promote healthy eating habits and deliver quality safe nursing care.
