A written workplace policy helps to promote effective workplace quality and safety programs within an organisation Policies should be designed to specifically address the needs of a workplace with processes designed to meet the needs of all relevant stakeholders Developing and implementing effective workplace policies for the prevention and management of quality and safety issues is a crucial skill as a health services manager. A written workplace policy aids in the promotion of effective workplace quality and safety programs within a company. Policies should be created to specifically address the needs of a workplace, and processes should be created to meet the needs of all relevant stakeholders. As a health services manager, you must be able to develop and implement effective workplace policies for the prevention and management of quality and safety issues.
Description
For this task, students will be asked to develop an evidence-based policy (EBP) to address quality and safety as a component of their role as health service managers The policy should address key components of policy-writing for public safety including, but not limited to definitions, guiding principles, patient expectations, roles and responsibilities, standards, clinical governance and incident management.
Criteria
– Clearly and concisely describes the issue that is being addressed by the policy with rationale and justification for managing the quality and safety issue
– Outlines the quality and safety issue that being addressed by the policy as well as ongoing monitoring
– Provides information and instruction for how the issue will be addressed with the workplace including worker training
– Policy document is structured appropriately and is consistent with HSM practices
– Use of academic writing, language and tone
– Referencing is consistent with an approved referencing style. (If using a reference managing system, it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that all references are structured appropriately with no errors.)

Marking Criteria:
