Human Trafficking has been highlighted recently in the political realm, and as a result, has brought many discussions on the best ways to fight it. The driving force behind human trafficking is, sadly, high profits. Illegal drug sales require the product to be manufactured, stored, and transported to its final destination. A drug can only be used one time by a consumer. Where tragically, a human being trafficked is used over and over for labor and to carry out sexually related acts. Conduct some research into cases involving Human Trafficking and provide current investigative techniques being used to combat this reprehensible form of crime.

Several types of investigative techniques are used in combating Human Trafficking. The human traffickers have advanced in their methods of accomplishing this reprehensible form of crime. The advancement has seen an evolution of investigative techniques that have been developed with alignment and capability to combat different methods involved in human trafficking. Some of the current investigative techniques include:
Proactive investigation: The proactive investigation technique in human trafficking cases involves the use of long-term and sustained efforts that aim at acquiring reliable intelligence through information gathering and analysis with the help of multi-agency collaboration (United Nations, 2006). The method does not rely on victim cooperation and testimony, as most traffickers have developed methods of covering their tracks and preventing victim testimonies or cooperation with the authorities.
Disruptive investigation: The method involves disrupting techniques that aim to interfere with human trafficking operations forcing the traffickers to retrieve. The disruptive investigation technique is usually utilized in situations where neither reactive nor the proactive technique is possible. The method has been considered useful in combating human trafficking, using multi-agency partners, including local police agencies, customs agencies, immigration services, foreign affairs ministries, airlines, and local town or municipal authorities.
Parallel financial investigation: The technique involves following the flow of money by investigating finance’s critical role in accomplishing human trafficking. In human trafficking cases, it has been established that human trafficking involves money and that it is also a crime that requires time to establish, which makes the possibility of tracing the flow of money.
Special investigative techniques: This technique is utilized in human trafficking cases that involve sophisticated, often transnational, criminal organizations (U.S. Department of Justice, 2017). The technique includes tools of investigation, such as electronic surveillance and undercover operations.
