Smart speakers
The innovation and inventions surrounding the smart speakers raise a wide range of different concerns due to their advantages, disadvantages, and their potential threats to privacy. Smart speakers are made up of wireless speakers with a voice command device that is incorporated with a virtual Helpant to enhance hands-free activation and interactive operations. The smart speakers are considered to be always hearing as opposed to listening to the conversations in their environments. In this regard, the smart speakers record and analyze short audio messages internally to detect common words or instructions. The smart speakers listen for the wake or common words and then records everything else said for parsing purposes. The recordings made can be stored either temporally or permanently depending on the make or design of the device. The smart speakers are incorporated in different devices such as smartphones, internet-connected televisions, laptops, Google homes, Facebook Portal, and other applications with microphones to enhance the listening and the recording of the outside environment. The smart speakers technologies are viewed and handled equal support and criticism due to its advantages and disadvantages, respectively, and there is a need to carry on with its continuous research to determine its potential dangers in the future as it endangers privacy.
Pros of smart speakers
Smart speakers technologies have been widely adopted in different places such as homes and workplaces due to their use and advantages in offering various solutions. The smart speakers have social, economic advantages that attract users to adopt them in different endeavors. First, smart speakers are effective tools that can be adopted in the management and planning of projects or daily operations. The projects are successfully implemented through coordination and cooperation between members of the teams. The teams in the projects are not able to effectively collaborate due to barriers and challenges experienced in the course of operations. In this regard, smart speakers are adopted in work stations as project planning tools to enhance cooperation between different parties. The voice speakers have a combination of slack and voices commands that ensures the teams and project managers to add messages on boards followed by quick commands. The smart speakers are able to read the messages, commands, and notification as well as archive messages and read them later. This approach enables the executives in a project to give commands and direction among the team members, thus rallying them towards the goals and operations of their organizations.
The smart speakers are adopted in setting up schedules to conduct the different operations in a work or operations set up. The setting up of schedules entails assigning functions to a different time in line with the organizational operations. Management of time is essential in any organization to ensure that goals and operations are completed at the appropriate time. Smart speakers play a vital role in managing time and function in an organization. In this regard, one determines a list of functions and operations be completed within different time limits. The smart speaker directs the worker on time to move from one activity to the other. Therefore, smart speakers enhance the management of time and operations, thus enabling the organization to achieve different goals.
Smart speakers have different functions and advantages to businesses to enhance effective and efficient operations. Smart speakers introduce technological advantages to businesses. Smart speakers improve the customer experience by adopting and executing a voice strategy in the marketing process, thus improving the competitive edge. The voice from the smart speakers improves user experience, customer loyalty, consumer engagement, and customer consumer experience. This fact attracts the customers to be loyal to the businesses and their brands. Additionally, the presence of smart speakers ensures that there is constant engagement between the businesses and the customers, thus enhancing cooperation and coordination that improves the relationship between the two parties.
Cons of Smart Speakers
Smart speakers have different disadvantages that push the users and other parties from adopting the technologies in different operations. Privacy is an issue of concern that is considered as a disadvantage of adopting smart speakers both in the current and future times. The smart speakers are always listening and recording information in the environment that some could be considered confidential. The user of the smart speaker is not able to determine the voices and audios to be recorded and those that need to be ignored. The issue of privacy spills over to affect the security of persons that adopt smart speakers in their homes or places of work. The voice recognizing technology does not recognize specific voices and would take command from any person irrespective of their intentions. For instance, the voice technology in smart speakers cannot be adopted in unlocking or disarming security doors since they respond to any voice command. Therefore, the challenge of privacy affects the security of businesses and homes, thus discouraging various parties from adopting it.
Smart speakers remain to be inflexible, making it hard to adopt positive technological changes. It takes considerable time to update the new version of the software on various devices. Changes need to be adopted in the smart speakers to improve their efficiency and eliminate different challenges and barriers formerly experienced. The inflexibility in the smart speakers devices makes the existing devices to continue in posing challenges and barriers in their operations. The cost of updating device through the software coupled with the inflexibility negatively affects the operations and effectiveness of the smart speakers.
Significance in learning the potential dangers of the technology in the future
It is vital to learn the dangers posed by smart speakers technology to ensure their improvement. The issue of privacy is a concern to be effectively researched to improve the security of audio and information security through the adoption of new technology and innovations. The smart speakers are in a position to record different sounds from the environment without selecting. This fact puts private matters at risk of being exposed to third parties. Additionally, learning the potential dangers of the technology in the future will effectively improve the convincing power for people to adopt the technology. The fact that the users of the technology will be aware of advantages, disadvantages, and other associated challenges enables them to use the technology most effectively. For instance, as much as the smart speakers are a threat to privacy, they enable the operation of different chores, adjusting the setting in the house hands-free, and improving the security system. In this regard, one needs to use smart speakers effectively for their advantages.
Conclusion
The use of smart speakers has a wide range of advantages and disadvantages in their use, and thus one needs to capitalize on the advantages and minimize the disadvantages. The smart speakers technology enhances the management of operations, scheduling of activities, and improving customer experiences at different levels and other advantages. The advantages associated with smart speakers need to be continually improved through the incorporation of innovations and inventions. On the other hand, the disadvantages include that the technology is a threat to privacy, the smart speakers contribute to insecurity, and they are inflexible as they take considerable time updating software and changes in technology. The developers of smart speakers technology need to work towards reducing or eliminating the disadvantages associated with the technology.
