Some of the talents and interests that make a viable candidate for the STEM industry include critical thinking, which is considered essential, especially in computer programming, as one is required to have high critical thinking skills to make the best possible decisions. Another skill is the analytical skill, which enables a candidate to understand sets of data and analyze them best on their relation with other data, processes, and systems to come up with the best program or system to solve the problems at hand. Communication is another skill that the candidate possesses, which is essential for one being a viable candidate for the STEM industry. As a computer programmer, communication is important to convey complex ideas to individuals with various backgrounds and job titles, including the ones that have less or more technical knowledge regarding programming. The STEM industry involves various kinds of interests, with some of them that make a candidate majoring in computer programming a viable candidate being the customer orientation. Serving and providing various programming solutions to customers is one of the interests that drive one to consider working in the STEM industry.

The dream job is to work as a computer programmer in Washington State. A computer programmer is tasked with designing and creating software programs, interacting systems, and software, conducting source-code modification, maintains operating systems, debugging, and writing system instructions.
