The alkaline earth elements are in Group 2 of the Periodic Table. On this experiment Be, Mg, Ca, Ba, and Sr will probably be studied. All of the alkaline earth metals are M2+ cations (Mg2+, Ca2+, and so on.) after they mix with nonmetals in ionic compounds and after they are in aqueous answer. The reactivity of the cations of beryllium, barium, calcium, magnesium, and strontium will probably be examined. The steel cations will probably be reacted with water. The data will probably be used to rank the reactivity of the steel cations.
If an answer containing one of these cations is combined with an answer containing an anion, the alkaline earth salt will precipitate if the compound containing these two ions is insoluble. The anions used for testing the alkaline earth cations in this experiment is OH
M(s) + H2O(l) ¾® M(OH)2(s) + H2(g)
The solubilities of the compounds of the alkaline earth cations and the anions present a easy development in keeping with the order of the cations in the Periodic Table. That’s, as we go from one finish of the alkaline earth household to the different, the solubilities of the hydroxide salts both progressively enhance or lower. By figuring out the solubility tendencies in this experiment, the order of the alkaline earths in the Periodic Table will be capable to be confirmed.

The alkaline earth elements are discovered in Periodic Table Group 2. Be, Mg, Ca, Ba, and Sr will probably be investigated in this experiment. When alkaline earth metals mix with nonmetals in ionic compounds and in aqueous answer, all of them grow to be M2+ cations (Mg2+, Ca2+, and so on.). The reactivity of beryllium, barium, calcium, magnesium, and strontium cations will probably be investigated. Water will react with the steel cations. The knowledge will probably be used to rank the steel cations’ reactivity.
