Read the assignment instructions carefully including submission instructions at the bottom (in blue) as
well as review the grading rubric for full visibility on what elements will be you will be graded on explicitly.
Review the wireframe example links below this paragraph. These are interactive prototypes, with
clear calls to action, all use cases identified, and a clear flow is defined. In the wireframes, feel free to
click around and click buttons (these wires are demos; they’re not connected to a database so don’t
worry about breaking anything or submitting forms).

how the wireframes are a blueprint, and do not include graphics. Only sparse colors to call attention to
functionality and interaction points are included. If you are curious how the creative agency took my

PART 1:
For this weeks assignment, you’ll be creating a wireframe for your sites homepage as well as creating a
wireframe for an improved shopping cart process. Using the site you’ve been working with, propose a
new homepage layout by creating a wireframe using the techniques described in this lecture and your
supplemental readings. Additionally, propose a new layout (or, both a new layout and a new process) for
checkout. The checkout wireframes should show the process through a series of pages. A single

page will not be sufficient. Remember back to your past assignments and think about any pain points
you discovered. You can work a solution to these pain points into your new design.
You’ll need to download a trial version of a rapid prototyping tool, unless you own one already. Both
Axure RP and Balsamiq offer a free limited trial version. Also both Axure and Adobe XD are available
through ASU. For this assignment using a rapid prototyping tool is a requirement – no hand drawn,
Sketch, Illustrator, or Photoshop files will be accepted for credit.
For your deliverables, I expect more than blank boxes positioned on each page. In order for you to
garner full credit for his assignment, all of the items listed below should be present. If wireframes are a
new concept for you, I don’t expect the level of interactivity from the example links I provided, but do I
want to see demonstrated effort put forth. Also, depending on the software you choose to work with, the
interactions will be demonstrated differently. Save Part 1 as its own separate PDF.
HOMEPAGE WIREFRAME MUST INCLUDE PLACEHOLDERS FOR:
Header and Navigation
Shopping Cart Icon
Some items (products for sale) and item detail
Clear Calls to Action – What will the user to, where will they go, and how will they interact with the
site from the homepage. This means adding buttons, links or interactive elements if you’re including
video or image carousels.
SHOPPING CART PROCESS WIREFRAMES MUST INCLUDE PLACEHOLDERS FOR:
Site login, social login, or guest checkout buttons
Item being purchased detail (name, size, and quantity)
Buyer Information (name, address, phone, email)
Shipping Information (name and address)
Billing Information (credit card number, expiration date, cvc code)
Coupon code entry input
Clear calls to action (how the user will move from page to page)
Order confirmation
**IMPORTANT: Must include screenshots of the currently live homepage and ALL pages in the checkout
process along with your wireframes (no need for the confirmation page as I don’t expect you to make a
purchase). I want to see the current layouts and compare them to your new layouts.
PART 2:
The second part of this final assignment entails a 500-word write up on the process you used to create
your wireframes. Include justification for placement of elements and describe any challenges you faced
and how you overcame them. Save Part 2 as its own separate PDF.
