Workplace Violence Prevention and Response Guidelines”Guidelines for Preventing Workplace” is a 2005 ASIS publication that provides security directors a strategy to prevent workplace violence and effectively manage and respond to threats.

Workplace violence is a critical issue identified by security directors in a 2016 Securitas survey as discussed previously in class. Students of security management should understand that workplace violence takes many forms and is more than just active shooter scenarios we seem to be experiencing in today’s society.

Security operatives often talk about employing a multidisciplinary approach when developing an organization’s workplace violence prevention and response strategy. After reviewing the ASIS document, explain what it means to employ a multidisciplinary approach and how such a strategy might be planned and implemented based on the guidelines presented. Incorporate into your response the essential elements that must be a part of any violence prevention program.
Also, describe the role of the security department and other departments you believe to be key stakeholders in achieving the program’s goals and objectives.

Workplace violence can be characterized by any disruptive behavior, either direct harassment, intimidation, actual violence, and intimidation that takes place within the workplace. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health defines workplace violence as any form of forced conflict or form of organization that brings about conflict targeting an individual in their duty to respond to a variety of workplace organization. There is a variety of ways in which organizations can respond to workplace violence most especially including a security team that works to tackle employee interaction within the workplace. Workplace violence can be subjected on employees, organizational assets or even on the strategy to which an organization approaches to dealing with the conflicts. Organization’s security apparatus accordingly work in a holistic manner to identify and crop out any element of workplace violence.
The role of the security department is in part to monitor, provide surveillance, assess and critically analyze how various entity within the organization associate. In so doing they are able to identity aspect of the organization that bring about violence or promote a sense of conflict. In the physical organization space, they obtain a variety of indicator likely to undermine organizational success and conduct background investigation in order to categorically provide a clear picture into the who organizational structure. The security department identifies and categorizes enormous departmental works, in a bid to avert losses, shield property and human assets from any sense of threat. The security department categorically provides an analysis and background check into new employees identifying their weaknesses with regard to organizational goals. They do this in conjunction to human resources.
