Dan is a registered nursing student, day 5 of his third-year placement at MyLocalHospital in Smithplace; his preceptor for today’s very busy morning shift is Registered Nurse Abi. Whilst getting ready for morning medication round, which was progressing unusually slowly, Dan noted preceptor RN Abi putting an Ondansetron wafer and some paracetamol from the medication room into her pocket. RN Abi winks at Dan and states, “God! I need this! I only got home a couple hours ago – I’m dead tired and I’ve got a shocking headache and hangover!!”. She jokingly said, “You better be in charge of me today – I can barely think… Hahaha!” RN Abi looked unwell, and Dan found himself keeping her on track with the daily planner and sometimes reminding RN Abi….

Creating a Plan to Reduce Resistance.

Nursing
Creating a Plan to Reduce Resistance. You work in an intensive care unit where there is an all-registered nurse (RN) staff. The staff work 12-hour shifts, and each nurse is assigned one or two patients, depending on the nursing needs of the patient. The unit has always used total patient care delivery assignments. Recently, your unit manager informed the staff that all patients in the unit would be assigned a case manager in an effort to maximize the use of resources and to reduce length of stay in the unit. Many of the unit staff resent the case manager and believe that this has reduced the RN’s autonomy and control of patient care. They are resistant to the need to document variances to the care multidisciplinary action plans….

“Please Don’t Let Me Die!”
In May 2006, a jury awarded $20 million to the family of Loren Richards, an 84-year-old Kentucky man. In addition to the nursing home corporation, two nurses were found culpable in Mr. Richard’s death. In the final hours of his life, Richards screamed in pain as he pleaded for help, “I need a doctor. I need a nurse. . . . Please don’t let me die” (Yetter, 2006). He died about 10 hours after he first complained of pain caused by an untreated bowel obstruction. Thirteen staff, three of whom were nurses, took care of 100 patients on that day. At one point, 10 of the 13 were on break, including all three nurses. That left three nursing Helpants to care for everyone…..

R. Seshasayee of Ashok Leyland
As managing director of Ashok Leyland, a leading transportation company in India whose buses carry 70 million people a day, R. Seshasayee was faced with reinvigorating the company to restore its performance after a few down years. An interview with Seshasayee suggests leadership in an Indian transportation company requires many of the same abilities as it does anywhere else in the world, or in most any workplace situation.
Seshasayee asserts, ” Outstanding leaders are those who set audacious objectives and get people to own and achieve them.” He continues by suggesting that leadership requires three essentials:
(First is) setting a goal which seems impossible or needs a fundamental leap; second is to communicate….

Brands into consumer evoked sets and must engage in persuasive messaging and other strategies to do so. The evoked set for some categories-for example, mouthwash and toothpaste-were basically one brand. This means that for categories, nominal decision making (choosing one and repeatedly over time) is the norm. Later in the chapter we will discuss the use of sruption strategies for brands in this situation that are not in a consumer’s evoked set. I evoked sets for some categories were somewhat large, but that may be due to variety reking. For example, the evoked set for fast food was five brands. However, one can imagine that consumers are loyal to brands of fast-food restaurants within type, but they riety seek or otherwise switch across situations. So, McDonald’s may be the harmer alternative, KFC the chicken alternative, Pizza Hut the pizza alternative, Taco Ell the Mexican alternative, and so on. M4 Discussion Pick a product or brand that you believe would require each strategy in Table 15-2 on textbook page 539 (six products in total). Justify your selection. Develop a specific marketing strategy for each (six strategies in total). The six strategies include maintenance, disrupt, capture, intercept, preference, and acceptance. Required Etiquette: Create your Thread at least three (3) days prior to the deadline to allow time for replies.
